Ban on tobacco youth possession doesn't work

    MONTREAL, Jan. 21 /CNW Telbec/ - In response to the Canadian Convenience
Stores Association's call for a ban on youth possession and use of tobacco,
the Quebec Coalition for Tobacco Control responds. Louis Gauvin, spokesperson
for the Coalition, says: "The idea of banning youth possession of tobacco is
not based on any credible evidence and simply does not work. It puts the blame
on youth, instead of an industry that promotes tobacco and retailers who sell
to minors. It's a public relations exercise to distract from other effective
tobacco-reduction measures, such as a total ban on advertising, including any
