WINNIPEG, May 22 /CNW/ - After a comprehensive national search, the Board
of Governors of Balmoral Hall School has appointed Dr. Linda Schwartz to the
position of Head of Balmoral Hall School for Girls, effective August 1, 2009.
Her qualifications and progressive experience at all levels of education and
in scholarship in the theory of teaching and learning uniquely position Dr.
Schwartz for leadership in independent education.
Dr. Schwartz most recently served as dean of the Faculty of Humanities at
Kwantlen Polytechnic University in British Columbia, where she established a
track record of responsible and collaborative leadership in a diverse and
dynamic setting. In addition to leading initiatives including a cultural
studies working group and a community school of creative and performing arts,
she was an active contributor in her community and participated in
cross-cultural initiatives and in the arts. Prior to moving to British
Columbia, Dr. Schwartz and her family lived in Winnipeg and her daughter
attended Balmoral Hall School for four years.
Corrine Scott, Chair of the BH Board of Governors fully supports Dr.
Schwartz's collaborative approach to leadership. "We are confident that she
will work tirelessly to fulfill the mission and enrich the vision of this
great school, while honouring the many traditions that define BH's unique
