Dancing with the Stars meets Kids Say the Darndest Things
North American Television Premiere
Saturdays at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, beginning February 16
TORONTO, Jan. 21 /CNW/ - One of the UK's 14 brightest ballroom couples -
none of whom have seen their 12th birthday - will waltz, tango and jive their
way to the top in the hit Brit series Baby Ballroom. The three-part, one-hour
series premieres Saturday, February 16 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT (repeats Sundays
at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT) on Bravo!.
Baby Ballroom is the ultimate dinky dance-off. Divided into two heats,
kid contenders perform for the judging panel in hopes of being one of six
pairs to qualify for the finale (airing March 1) or earn the lone wild card
spot. Judging the pint-sized performers are: Pierre Dulaine, the inspiration
for Antonio Banderas' film Take the Lead; Broadway star Bonnie Langford; and
former junior dancing champion Ray Quinn.
The pressure is on for the young twinkle-toes, who have to give it
everything they've got to walk away victorious. According to nine-year-old
Rebecca, "Tonight what we gotta do is think we're like a bottle of champagne.
Someone's shaken you up, but hasn't opened the lid yet. And then suddenly they
open the lid and you let it all burst out."
Once the dancing is complete, each couple must face the judging panel and
answer their questions. The mini Rogers-and-Astaires respond with the
confidence and gumption of youth, before running to their parents who, in true
stage-mom fashion, are mere inches from the dance floor.
