LONGUEUIL, QC, Oct. 30 /CNW Telbec/ - Azimut Exploration Inc. ("Azimut")
and its partner Central Uranium Corporation ("Central Uranium"), have received
positive results for their 2007 exploration program on the South Bienville
uranium property in northern Quebec.
The 2007 work included:
- 5,395 line-km of helicopter-borne radiometric, magnetic and EM
surveying by McPhar Geosurveys Ltd; and
- the collection of 1,111 lake-bottom sediment samples and
64 rock grab samples for which results are pending; this work
was performed by IOS Services Géoscientifiques Inc.
The radiometric survey identified at least 9 priority anomalies with
strike lengths of more than one kilometre each and a cumulative length of
25 km. A two-week reconnaissance prospecting program revealed several
mineralized outcrops on two claim blocks with scintillation readings from
5,000 to 8,000 counts per second (Radiation Solution(R) RS-120). Yellow
minerals, likely the result of weathering of primary uranium-bearing minerals,
were observed at 4 different locations. Mineralized rocks are pegmatite,
pegmatitic granite and granite. Other areas where prospecting has yet to be
performed correspond to strong or very strong helicopter-borne anomalies of
The property consists of 10 claim blocks totalling 1,929 claims and a
surface area of 935 km2. Central Uranium has optioned the property from
Azimut, as reported in the press release of May 1, 2007. Azimut is the project
operator and will act as such for the first two years.
The results reported here, combined with the identification of 17 recently
announced target areas on the West Minto property under option by Majescor
Resources Inc. (press release of October 11, 2007), further confirm the
uranium potential of Azimut's properties in northern Quebec and validate
Azimut's initial regional targeting. In addition to the South Bienville and
West Minto properties, Azimut holds five properties under option in this
region: Central Minto (optioned to Central Uranium), North Minto and South
Minto (optioned to Rukwa Uranium Ltd.), Hudson Bay (optioned to Silver Spruce
Resources Inc.) and West Bienville (optioned to Channel Resources Ltd.) These
seven properties comprise 8,130 claims covering 3,808 km2.
