Ascendant Copper Corporation announces Name Change

    VANCOUVER, July 11 /CNW/ - Ascendant Copper Corporation ("Ascendant" or
the "Company") (TSX: ACX) is pleased to announce that, at the Annual and
Special Meeting of Shareholders held on June 25, 2008, shareholders approved
the renaming of the Company to Copper Mesa Mining Corporation ("Copper Mesa").
    "With the recent acquisition of two near-term producing copper projects
in the southwestern United States, we believe the name Copper Mesa better
reflects the Company's current focus and acquisition policy," said Gary E.
Davis, President and CEO.
    Effective July 11, 2008, Copper Mesa will be trading under the new ticker
symbol "CUX" on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
