OTTAWA, Aug. 7 /CNW Telbec/ - The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of
Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment of
Mr. Jean-Denis Pelletier of Laval, Quebec, as a member of the board of
directors of the Canadian Transportation Agency for a term of five years.
"I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Pelletier," said
Minister Cannon. "His background in transportation engineering will be of
great value to the agency."
Mr. Pelletier graduated from Université de Sherbrooke with a bachelor's
degree in electrical engineering and earned a master's degree in
transportation engineering from the Ecole Polytechnique at Université de
Montréal. From 1983 to 1998, he held various senior positions with Montreal's
transit authority, the Société de Transport de la Communauté Urbaine de
Montréal, including project director, and chief of support and administrative
services. From 1998 to 2005, he worked as a transport consultant and, since
2005, he has been a commissioner and administrative judge with the Commission
des Transports du Québec. In addition, Mr. Pelletier is a member of the Ordre
des Ingénieurs du Québec, the Union Internationale des Transports Publics, as
well as of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
The Canadian Transportation Agency's mission is to administer
