OTTAWA, Oct. 15 /CNW Telbec/ - The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister
of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment
of Mr. John Scott as vice-chair of the Canadian Transportation Agency.
"I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Scott," said Minister
Cannon. "His extensive experience in law and business administration will be
of great value to the agency."
Mr. John Scott was called to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1975, and
worked as a law firm partner in private legal practice in the corporate and
commercial sector in Ottawa for over 20 years. He then served for 10 years as
vice-president and general counsel with a national corporation.
Mr. Scott holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from
Bishop's University, a master's degree in jurisprudence from Oxford University
and a bachelor of laws from the University of New Brunswick.
Mr. Scott was appointed as a member of the Canadian Transportation Agency
in June 2007. His appointment as vice-chair will be effective January 2008,
for a period of five years.
The Canadian Transportation Agency's mission is to administer
transportation legislation and Government of Canada policies to help achieve
an efficient and accessible transportation system by education, consultation
and essential regulation.
