EDMONTON, Feb. 21 /CNW/ - The Alberta Veterinary Medical Association
(AVMA) is very pleased to announce that Dr. Nick Nation has been appointed to
the position of AVMA President.
Dr. Nation joined the AVMA Practice Inspection and Practice Standards
Committee in 1999, and he continues to serve as a valuable member of that
committee today. He has previously volunteered on the Registration Committee
and has been an active member of the Historical Advisory Group since its
inception many years ago. He is the recipient of the 2004 AVMA Veterinarian of
the Year Award.
Dr. Nation was born in London, England. His family moved to Baltimore in
1954 and then to Calgary the following year.
Dr. Nation attended St. Andrews College, a private boarding school in
Aurora, Ontario, for grades nine to thirteen. He completed his pre-veterinary
studies at Simon Fraser University; Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and a
Master's Degree at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of
Saskatchewan; and a PhD in Neurotoxicology at the University of Calgary,
Faculty of Medicine. He became Board Certified with the American College of
Veterinary Pathologists in 1980.
Dr. Nation is highly respected and is well known in the veterinary and
animal owner community through his expertise and work at various pathology
labs throughout the province. He currently owns and operates Animal Pathology
Services (APS) Ltd., a specialty practice in Edmonton.
