DENVER, April 26 /CNW/ - Apex Silver Mines Limited (AMEX: SIL) today
announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Rodman L. Drake and Ian
Hume as Directors, effective immediately.
Mr. Drake is an experienced corporate director and former chief executive
officer with more than 30 years of diverse consulting and executive management
experience. Since 1997, he has served as Managing Director of Baringo Capital,
a private equity group focused on investments in mining and venture capital,
which he also co-founded. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of
Resource Capital Funds. He previously served as Co-Chairman of KMR Power
Company, a developer of independent power projects in Latin America, and as
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Cresap McCormick and Paget, a
leading international management consulting firm.
Mr. Hume is also an experienced corporate director with approximately 30
years of experience in corporate finance and in investment management and
consulting, primarily in the natural resources and telecommunications
industries. Since 2000 Mr. Hume has been the Founding Partner of the Sentient
Group Limited, a manager of closed-end private equity funds specializing in
global investment in the natural resources industries and headquartered in
Sydney, Australia. Mr. Hume previously served as a consultant to AMP Society's
Private Capital Division, where he was involved in a number of mining projects
in Latin America, Russia and the Pacific Rim.
