Anne Golden receives honorary doctorate from the University of Western Ontario

    LONDON, ON, June 11 /CNW Telbec/ - Today, Dr. Anne Golden, President and
Chief Executive Officer of The Conference Board of Canada, received an
honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario in recognition
of her contribution to social justice and public policy.
    In her address to graduates from the faculties of Graduate Studies and
Social Science at this morning's 291st Convocation at the University of
Western Ontario, Dr. Golden called on graduates to combine their education
with a lifetime of engagement.
    "Seek out and stay connected to exceptional people doing important work,
people from diverse backgrounds who care and people who are committed. I
cannot wish more for you than joy that I have been privileged to have-the joy
that comes with the sense that in some way, every day, you are making a
contribution," said Dr. Golden.
    Dr. Golden, a member of the Order of Canada, also has honorary doctorates
from Royal Roads University (2005), the University of Toronto (2002), York
University (2000) and Ryerson Polytechnic University (1997), as well as an
honorary diploma from Loyalist College (2005). She has been President and CEO
of The Conference Board of Canada since 2001, after having served as President
of The United Way of Greater Toronto for 14 years.
