An important company in the nuclear power industry places over $300 000 in orders for Fiso instrumentation

    QUEBEC CITY, Dec. 18 /CNW Telbec/ - FISO Technologies Inc., a subsidiary
of Roctest Ltd (TSX: RTT) and a leading manufacturer of high-quality fiber
optic sensors and measurement systems for challenging and demanding
applications has been awarded, through one of its distributors, an order of
over $300,000 for sensors and signal conditioners. The order is coming from a
major UK producer of electricity and will be used to monitor nuclear power
plants. The order, which represents 20 signal conditioners and more than
70 sensors, is to be delivered over a 3-month period with an anticipation of
future orders from this well established customer who acquired several FISO
systems in recent years. This new order demonstrates the high performance
level of our distribution network which has been established, trained and
supported over the years. The close cooperation of all our partners is a great
achievement for FISO and puts in evidence the performance of our sales
The FOD (Fiber Optic Displacement) sensors are installed in nuclear power
plants to monitor the dilation of concrete structures surrounding nuclear
reactors. The linear displacement sensor, which covers a range of some 20mm,
and the UMI (Universal Multichannel Instrument) system which has a sampling
rate of 20Hz have been used in this application for more than 5 years. These
products are considered as safety critical devices; this demonstrates a high
level of quality and reliability. "From the monitoring of LNG (Liquefied
Natural Gas) tank where sensors are located in areas at temperature of
-170 degrees Celsius, to microwave dryer in the wood industry and many other
applications, the FOD sensor is yet another proof of FISO's capability to
innovate in developing new products. FISO is also addressing new applications
for current products and improved versions of existing products" said Maxim
Vachon-Savary, Product Line Manager at FISO Technologies Inc.
