- Wins the weekend box office war with a combined $4.2 million gross
TORONTO, Sept. 15 /CNW/ - Alliance Films is proud to announce that its
new release films have won the top three spots at the weekend box office.
Burn After Reading took first place with an estimated $2 million,
Righteous Kill won second with $1.4 million and The Women was third with
Combined with its other current releases in the market, Alliance held 53%
of the total box office. The next highest grossing competitor was Universal
Studios, with a 9% market share, followed by Sony with 8.5%.
So far in 2008, Alliance has earned $86 million gross box office, which
equates to a 13.5% market share(*), making it the third highest grossing
distributor in Canada, including the major studios.
