Algeria : two journalists questioned for reporting arrest of policeman

    MONTREAL, March 21 /CNW Telbec/ - Houari Mohammed, the bureau chief of
the national daily El Khabar (The News) in the western city of Mascara, and
Bouamama Benaoumeur, the Mascara correspondent of the daily Manbar El Koraê
(Readers' Tribune), were questioned by an investigating judge on 17 March
about their reports that a police officer in Tighennif (20 km from Mascara)
had been arrested for corruption. The two journalists were released
provisionally after interrogation.
