MONTREAL, Sept. 14 /CNW Telbec/ - Alcan and the Club de Hockey Canadien
held a special event yesterday, raising $115,000 for the Montreal Canadiens
Children's Foundation. Dick Evans, President and CEO, Alcan Inc., and
Pierre Boivin, President, Club de Hockey Canadien and Bell Centre presided
over the event.
"Alcan is honoured to have teamed up with the Montreal Canadiens to
benefit their Children's Foundation," said Dick Evans. "Both our organizations
share a commitment to our home town and are dedicated to ensuring the
well-being of its most precious asset: its children," he added.
"The Club de Hockey Canadien is proud to have Alcan, a long-time and
distinguished member of the Montreal community, on our team to help bring hope
to the Province of Quebec's disadvantaged and sick children. This special
fundraising event highlights the importance and effectiveness of teamwork in
improving the lives of children in need," said Pierre Boivin.
Yesterday's event was held at the Company's global headquarters in the
historic Salvation Army Citadel. Highlights of the evening included a silent
and live auction and a special performance by the Arvida Research and
Development Choir, a group composed of Alcan employees and retirees from the
Company's facilities around the Province of Quebec.

Sainte-Justine hospital's year-long centennial celebration.
Since its inception on August 31, 2000, the Montreal Canadiens Children's
Foundation has donated over $6 million to charitable endeavours, financially
supporting close to 200 not-for-profit organizations from all across the

children. It aims to promote the development of and access to programs,
resources, materials, equipment, and places intended for children. It does
this through the charitable assignment of funding to not-for-profit groups
dedicated to fighting poverty, improving well-being or promoting sport among
