EDMONTON, Feb. 21 /CNW/ - The Alberta Veterinary Medical Association
(AVMA) is pleased to announce the recipients of its annual service awards. The
awards were presented at the AVMA Annual Member Recognition Banquet at the
Crowne Plaza, Chateau Lacombe in Edmonton on January 26, 2008.
Dr. Tannis Tupper is the recipient of this year's Veterinarian of the
Year Award. This is one of the AVMA's most prestigious awards and is presented
to a member for outstanding contributions in the field of veterinary medicine.
Dr. N. Ole Nielsen is the recipient of the Meritorious Service Award.
This award is presented to a member of the AVMA who has demonstrated
outstanding service to the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Jacob Adserballe of Uplands Pet Hospital in Lethbridge is the
recipient of the AVMA's Young Veterinarian of the Year Award. This award is
presented in recognition to a young AVMA member who has shown enthusiasm for
veterinary medicine and demonstrated leadership in the profession and the
Alberta Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Ernie Miciak is the recipient of this year's Communications Award.
The award is presented to a member of the Alberta Veterinary Medical
Association in recognition of his/her efforts to enhance the public image of
the veterinary profession in Alberta.
