Aéropostale Inc. officially arrives in Canada today in time for back-to-school shopping, and celebrates its 800th store opening on Canadian soil

US retailer perfect for fashion conscious teens and budget conscious
    parents

TORONTO, Aug. 29 /CNW/ - Aéropostale Inc. (Aéropostale), a New York
City-based teen retailer officially lands in Canada today just in time for the
annual back-to-school shopping pilgrimage for teens wanting all the fashion
must haves, and for parents looking to get the most bang for their buck.
To celebrate its arrival in Canada, the company is today hosting an early
evening launch event at its Vaughan Mills location, which marks the 800th
store opening for the US retailer. The Vaughan Mills location occupies 5,000
square feet dedicated to a wide assortment of fashion basic merchandise. The
brand, which appeals to 14 to 18 year olds, focuses on creating high quality
fashion and basic merchandise at compelling value.
Aéropostale's 2007 Fall collection provides the necessities for any guy's
and girl's wardrobe. From a variety of polos, henleys, and hoodies in solids
and the now popular prints to a new denim line-up, as well as lightweight
sweaters and outerwear, there is something for everyone.
In recent years, Aéropostale has developed a Canadian following among
cross-border shoppers, so planting its roots in Canadian soil is a natural
extension in its international expansion plans. Twelve Canadian Aéropostale
stores will be opened by December 2007.
"Our foray into Canada was an obvious strategical move for Aéropostale as
we continue to grow brand and market presence," said Tom Johnson, COO,
Aéropostale. "The energy of Canadian teens, mixed with our excitement for
being here, will prove the right fit. With the anticipation of the inaugural
opening growing, as well as the company's success in the United States, it is
only a matter of time before Aéropostale becomes a Canadian household name."
Beyond the value promise, Aéropostale endeavours to be different by
listening to its customers and providing relevant fashion items rather than
dictating trends; and partnering with like-minded companies that speak their
language.
Case in point, the Canadian launch event starting at 6:00 pm today at
Vaughan Mills will include a live band performance by New Year's Day, hundreds
of product gift bag giveaways, signature mocktails, sweet bags, and a
complimentary photo booth for teens to capture the moment. Aéropostale
extended its communication channels by aligning with Much Music, key teen
radio stations, and running text message campaigns all of which have generated
great buzz as hundreds are expected to attend the event.
A special ribbon-cutting ceremony will be conducted in the early
afternoon with City of Vaughan Councillors.
Canadians can get a taste of Aéropostale spirit by visiting one of the
already open locations including Vaughan Mills; White Oaks, London; Pickering
Town Centre, Pickering; Fairview Park, Kitchener; Georgian Mall, Barrie;
Oakville Place, Oakville; Metropolis in Burnaby, BC. By month's end, Dufferin
Mall in Toronto and the Guilford Town Centre in Surrey, BC will be added to
the roster. An additional three stores will open in Fall 2007 in Hamilton,
Mississauga and Scarborough.
