Ad Campaign Aimed at Inspiring Torontonians to Pursue Fitness at Any Age

    TORONTO, Aug. 19 /CNW/ - Can-Fit-Pro, the leader in health and wellness
education, is behind an ad campaign showing Canadians ranging in age from 6 to
65, engaged in different sports and fitness activities. Each of the 10 ads is
a snapshot featuring an individual describing how fitness is part of their
    "The purpose of the campaign is to show that fitness is not narrowly
defined as a twenty-something lifting weights at the gym or an elite

state that can be achieved by anyone, doing a broad range of activities,
regardless of how old they are when they start to pursue a healthier

    Examples of the ads include:

    -   a 43 year-old woman, in running gear, sitting in a forested area,
        accompanied by the caption "I am a 43 year old high school teacher
        and can outrun most of my students. How fit are you?"

    -   a male runner with the Toronto skyline in the background, with a
        caption that reads "I am 65 years old. I just ran my first 5k. Next
        year I'll run a marathon. How fit are you?"

    -   a group of young kids in a swimming pool, with the caption "My
        parents gave me the greatest gift of life. They taught me to be fit.
        How fit are you?"

    The campaign was conceived from Can-Fit-Pro's intention to dispel the
myth that health and fitness is only for a certain segment of the population,
fuelled by statistics that 51% of Canadians are inactive and 25% of deaths in
Canadians are a direct result of sedentary living.
    The ads will run daily in the Toronto edition of The Metro from August
10th to August 21st in the hopes of capturing the attention of its more than
445,000 readers each day, with the intention of motivating Torontonians to
make fitness part of their everyday lives.
    The campaign concludes on the eve of Can-Fit-Pro's biggest event of the
year - the International Fitness and Club Business Conference and Trade Show -
which takes place August 19 - 23, 2009 at the Metro Convention Centre in
Toronto. Primarily a forum for fitness professionals, the show opens its doors
to consumers on Saturday, August 22, 2009 for the Consumer Fitness and
Wellness Show; giving consumers a chance to see fitness equipment, apparel and
nutrition providers and knowledge experts in the fitness industry.
