Acer Achieves Top Spot for Notebook PCs and Displays in Canadian Market During Q4 2006

SAN JOSE, CALIF., April 4 /CNW/ - Acer, the fourth largest vendor in the
global IT market, today announced during Q4 2006, Acer Canada achieved the
number one position in both notebook PCs and LCD monitors shipped, according
to Partner Research Canada. Acer is now the third largest PC brand in Canada.

In notebook PCs, Acer Canada shipped 119,192 units during the fourth
quarter, growing 73% year-on-year. During the 2006, Acer shipped more than
337,000 notebook PCs, approximately 18% of the total notebooks shipped in

In the area of LCD displays, Acer dominated the Canadian market, shipping
21% of 770,300 total units shipped in the quarter. Product demand in the
Canadian LCD market intensified during the fourth quarter, which also
catapulted Acer to lead in the segments of 17-inch and beyond 20-inch

"In my view, Acer's great accomplishment was not so much in capturing the
top spot in the notebook market, as it was expanding the notebook market,"
said Albert Daoust, senior analyst at Partner Research Canada. "Because of
Acer's low prices and copious supply, a whole new category of client entered
the notebook market. Bravo Acer!"

"Our achievement in the Canadian region is attributed to the Acer channel
business model, which greatly enhances the company's structure and channel
relations," said Terry Tomecek, general manager of Acer Canada. "Acer's
competitiveness in the Canadian IT marketplace has increased because the way
Acer has streamlined the supply chain and eased the way in which the company
brings new and innovative products to the marketplace."
