MONTREAL, Aug. 14 /CNW Telbec/ - Throughout the month of August, Wal-Mart
shoppers can help make small miracles happen for sick children by
participating in a national campaign to raise $165,000(*) for Children's Miracle
Network and its 12 affiliated foundations including Opération Enfant Soleil in
From August 11 to September 1, Procter & Gamble and Wal-Mart Canada will
make a donation to the Children's Miracle Network when shoppers purchase
trusted P&G brands, including Crest, Oral B, Duracell, Gillette Fusion,
Pantene, Always, Scope, Venus, Old Spice and Aussie at Wal-Mart stores
throughout the country.
"Procter & Gamble Canada and Wal-Mart are long-time supporters of
pediatric care," said John Hartman, Chief Operating Officer, Children's
Miracle Network, Canada. "Fund-raising campaigns such as this one engage the
community and rally people in a collective effort to help improve the lives of
children waging a courageous battle in the face of adversity."
Gillette, the brand known best for its razors, initiated this yearly
fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network some 10 years ago. Last year,
Gillette was joined by partner brands Oral B, Always and Crest, raising the
bar and donation amount to $150,000 for the Children's Miracle Network. Since
its inception, the annual August fundraiser, one of the largest such
initiatives by P&G, has amassed close to $1 million.
"It's the ideal time to have this type fundraiser," Jennifer Seiler P&G
Customer Marketing Manager. "The products involved are replenished often and
college and university students are packing their everyday necessities in
preparation for another year at school. By purchasing these products at
Wal-Mart, shoppers and students can fulfill their needs at everyday low prices
and help raise much-needed funds for Children's Miracle Network."
Added Mr. Hartman: "During the three-week time-span of the campaign, many
Canadians will need to purchase some or all of these products. By doing so at
Wal-Mart, not only will you be doing something for yourself, but also helping
to provide youngsters with a ray of hope."
