A Blue Jays Triple Play means a Fan Wins a Cool Million

TORONTO, Aug. 19 /CNW/ - Ericsson Canada today announced the Ericsson
Triple Play Challenge, in which one lucky fan could win $1 million (CAD) if
the Toronto Blue Jays turn a triple play during one of six games this season.
An additional $1 million will also be donated to the Jays Care Foundation.
When the visiting team has two men on base and no outs, it is usually
time for fans to jeer. For six games this year, Jays fans will now have a
reason to cheer...for a triple play. If that occurs, Ericsson will give one
lucky fan the opportunity to win $1 million, and will donate a matching amount
to the Jays Care Foundation. In baseball terms, a triple play is a play by the
defense in which three offensive players are putout as a result of continuous
action, providing there is no errors between putouts.
"The triple play is the most thrilling end to an inning and one of the
most exciting things to witness in baseball," said Mark Henderson, President
and CEO of Ericsson Canada. "If the Blue Jays manage to turn one, it's a
win-win. A lucky fan will get the gift of a lifetime and the Jays Care
Foundation will get $1 million to help kids pursue their dreams."
"Ericsson Canada stepped up to the plate this year to sponsor the Jays
Care Foundation 50/50 program enabling the ongoing support to a variety of
charities and programs each year. Their support offers a fantastic opportunity
for fans to win a cash prize at every Jays home game, including the Ericsson
Triple Play Challenge where Fans will have a chance to win $1,000,000. A
matching donation from this challenge will go directly to the Jays Care
Foundation helping us to continue to provide priceless opportunities for kids
in need," said Melinda Rogers, Chair of the Jays Care Foundation. "Thank you
