ST. ALBERT, AB, Jan. 14 /CNW/ - When Nellie Krauskopf went to make her
regular lottery purchase, she had no idea she had a ticket worth over $7
Million already sitting in her purse! The Morinville resident checked her
LOTTO 6/49 ticket from the previous week and discovered she'd won $7,478,207
on the January 3rd draw!
Each week, Nellie purchases tickets for two draws for LOTTO 6/49 playing
a set of random numbers she's used for several years. She bought a LOTTO 6/49
ticket, which included the January 3rd draw, from Morinville Tempo, and then
returned there the following week. After buying new tickets, she handed the
clerk her previous ones to be checked.
"I heard the machine make a sound and looked up and saw a bunch of
numbers. I asked how much I had won, but even the cashier wasn't sure at
first." When the cashier handed her the winning ticket back with the Claim
Slip, Nellie started to realize just how much she'd actually won for matching
all six main numbers drawn - 4, 13, 17, 25, 36 and 48 - on one line.
"I started shaking, then drove straight home," Nellie remembered. "I must
have looked at the ticket about ten times that evening." Her LOTTO 6/49 ticket
was one of three across Canada that split the January 3rd $22.4 Million
Nellie said that winning this amount hadn't sunk in yet. Although she
hasn't thought too much yet about her future, the new Millionaire knows she
will be retiring earlier than planned and helping out her family.
