$480,000 raised for the Maisonneuve-Rosemont hospital foundation

    MONTREAL, Oct. 30 /CNW Telbec/ - The 6th edition of Montréal Passion Vin,
held on October 26 and 27 at the Bonaventure Hilton Hotel, raised a total of
$480,000 for the Maisonneuve-Rosemont hospital foundation. This represents a
record for this event, which up to now has raised $2 million for the
    The funds raised by the 2007 edition will be dedicated to an operating
room specifically for laparoscopic surgery and the acquisition of six new beds
for the intensive care unit, at a cost of $20,000 each.
    "Montréal Passion Vin is an event for sharing: sharing the passion of
prestigious winemakers, sharing the passion of those who enjoy wine, and most
important of all, sharing with those in our community who are less fortunate
than us, by donating all profits to the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital," said
Denis Chaurette, president of the 2007 edition of Montréal Passion Vin.
    As Canada's most prestigious wine-tasting event, the 2007 edition of
Montréal Passion Vin brought together some of the world's most distinguished
wine producers: Maison Joseph Drouin de Bourgogne, Château Gazin, Château
Margaux (Bordeaux 1st Growth), Mas de Daumas Gassac, Pommery champagnes,
Château Pontet-Canet, as well as Tenuta San Guido producer of the highly
reputed Sassicaia of Italy, and Torres from Spain. Meals at the event were
designed by the chefs from Leméac, Latini and Club Chasse & Pêche restaurants.
