VANCOUVER, Nov. 4 /CNW/ - Vancouver Community College's board has appointed Kathy Kinloch as the college's new president, chair Don Fairbairn announced today.
Kinloch joins VCC with extensive experience including post-secondary education, government and the health-care sector, and comes to the college from her current role as dean of health sciences at the B.C. Institute of Technology, a position she has held since 2007. She takes up her new role at VCC on March 15.
Prior to her work at BCIT, Kinloch was a senior advisor within the B.C. Ministry of Health Services, and before that held key positions in health care, including as chief operating officer of Fraser Health. She holds a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Alberta and a master of arts in leadership and training from Royal Roads University. She is an associate faculty member at Royal Roads University.
Kinloch's appointment comes following a collaborative search process overseen by a broad-based committee that included representation from the college board, faculty, staff, administration and students.
"This was a strong process with a number of extremely strong candidates, and I'm pleased to welcome Kathy Kinloch as VCC's new president," says Fairbairn, who as the college's board chair led the search committee.
"Her experience, collaborative approach and deep understanding of our community fit perfectly with VCC, and we look forward to her leadership of the college," he says.
"I am pleased to accept this opportunity to serve the VCC community," says Kinloch. "Together we can build on VCC's many strengths in delivering quality education."
