2011 Kia Optima named to the "Ward's 10 Best Interiors" List

Upscale interior on all-new midsize sedan impresses Editors

  • The all-new Kia Optima honoured by Ward's Auto for luxurious interior look and feel, along with well-priced packaging options

MISSISSAUGA, ON, April 12 /CNW/ - Often praised for having a striking exterior design, an impressive list of standard safety features and great fuel economy without sacrificing performance, the all-new 2011 Kia Optima has also been included as part of "Ward's 10 Best Interiors" list. The Optima has received this prestigious accolade with a high score from Ward's Auto editors that ranked 51 vehicles that were either all-new or featured significantly upgraded interiors, ranging from utility vehicles, minivans and small cars to high-end premium sedans. The cumulative scores were reached from rankings in the following categories: materials, ergonomics, safety, the human-machine interface, comfort, fit and finish, overall value and aesthetics.

This esteemed accolade follows a large number of awards for the 2011 Optima, including being the first Korean-built vehicle to achieve an overall five-star crash safety rating under new, more stringent government guidelines by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a recognized 'Top Safety Pick' by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), a 2011 iF product design award, a recipient of a red dot design award and also claimed the coveted 2011 red dot 'best of the best' title, the competition's highest distinction, for which only the best products in each category are eligible.

About the 2011 Kia Optima

From the moment the door opens, the Optima conveys an immediate sense of a driver's car. The instrument panel is contoured at 9.6 degrees towards the driver to suggest a cockpit feel with precise gauges and controls for an overall sport performance experience without sacrificing comfort or roominess. Available paddle shifters behind the steering wheel convey that Optima is built for people who are passionate about cars. A high console with a short shifter adds to the cockpit perception while an available panoramic sunroof provides an open-air feeling. Offering occupants both space and comfort with a number of standard convenience features, the sedan's chic cabin unifies with the exterior design by welcoming its passengers with lean and ergonomic seat design and effective storage throughout. Modern standard features such as a six-way adjustable driver's seat with power lumbar support, illuminated vanity mirrors with a ticket holder and a trip computer further expand the cabin's luxurious qualities.

In addition to offering a comfortable cabin, impressive technology features also come standard throughout, including an AM/FM/CD/MP3/Sat audio system with SIRIUS® Satellite Radio capabilities with three months complimentary service. Also standard on all trims are auxiliary and USB audio input jacks for connecting MP3 players and Bluetooth® wireless technology connectivity with steering wheel-mounted voice activation controls to enable hands-free operation for compatible mobile phones. Additional standard interior features include a tilt/telescopic steering column, power door locks, and power windows. Stylishly appointed cloth seats provide comfortable seating while a 60/40 split-folding rear seat offers multiple seating and cargo arrangements depending on driver and passenger needs.

The all-new Optima is currently available with two fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines, a 2.4-liter GDI and a 2.0-liter GDI Turbo. A 2.4-liter hybrid rendition will be available later this year, offering consumers even more impressive fuel economy.

Industry-Leading Warranty

The 2011 Optima is covered by Kia's comprehensive warranty program which offers unsurpassed consumer protection.  Included in this program are a 5 year/100,000 kilometer power train warranty, a 5 year/100,000 kilometer limited basic warranty and a 5 year unlimited kilometer anti-perforation warranty.  A 5-year/100,000 kilometer roadside assistance plan also forms part of Kia's comprehensive vehicle coverage.
