OTTAWA, Aug. 18, 2016 /CNW/ - Today, Hydro Ottawa has partnered with the Capital Fair to host Special Needs Day. This accessible day provides children and adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities, along with their families and caregivers, the opportunity to experience all the sights, sounds and fun of a day at the fair.
Since 2001, thousands of guests have enjoyed the opportunity to experience this amazing community event, making Special Needs Day one of the most memorable days of the year for guests and many Hydro Ottawa employee volunteers. The enthusiasm and commitment of these volunteers ensures that the event is a success year after year.
By opening the Capital Fair a day early, guests will get to experience the fair with the benefits of smaller crowds and line-ups, reduced-speed midway rides, and volunteers to help guests on and off the rides. By removing these barriers to accessibility, Hydro Ottawa ensures guests enjoy all aspects of the fair.
- This special day features live entertainment, karaoke, a petting zoo, a barbecue lunch, and midway rides.
- Hydro Ottawa recognizes the important role volunteers play in creating a strong, supportive community.
- More than 40 Hydro Ottawa employees are volunteering their time to ensure the safety and well-being of the guests during the event. Volunteers help direct traffic, assist guests on and off the rides, as well as prepare and serve lunch.
"This day is truly special for all of us at Hydro Ottawa. We are fortunate to host so many wonderful families for an exclusive and accessible day at the fair. Removing barriers that would otherwise prevent many people from attending allows everyone to enjoy this wonderful summertime pastime. The smiles and laughter today is our reward." - Bryce Conrad, President and Chief Executive Officer
