11 year old boy climbs Mount Everest - Bulldog Interactive Fitness(R) Member Climbs 29,029 Feet - the Height of Mount Everest

TORONTO, March 30 /CNW/ - Bulldog Interactive Fitness(R) in Toronto,
Ontario is proud to announce that one of its members has reached the top of
Mount Everest, virtually! Eleven-year-old Dawson McLachlan has been a member
of the Bulldog youth fitness facility located at 109 Vanderhoof Avenue in
Leaside since October 2006. He reached the summit by climbing a unique piece
of equipment, the Treadwall(R). The Treadwall(R) is a vertical treadmill
climbing wall that measures distance climbed.
Bulldog Interactive Fitness(R) is the first interactive fitness facility
designed exclusively for youth - they focus on getting kids in shape by
combining exercise with video games and other kid-friendly exercise equipment.
"Our members track their accumulated climb distance on the Treadwall each time
they visit the club," said Bulldog franchise owner Lou Martinez. "We use
landmarks around the world to put climb distances into perspective - Mount
Everest is the final and most challenging milestone. Dawson's climb is a very
significant achievement."
Dawson has been climbing the wall regularly since he joined the club. He
finally reached 29,029 feet this March, becoming the first "Bulldog" in Canada
to reach the summit. "He was determined to be the first to reach the top from
the day he joined," said co-owner Mary-Lou Martinez. "He was definitely a man
on a mission!"
To recognize his achievement, Dawson will receive a trophy and be the
first member to have his name engraved on a plaque that will hang in the
facility. "Dawson is an example of how kids can achieve great things simply by
setting goals and working hard," said Holly Bond, President and Founder of
Bulldog Interactive Fitness(R). "At Bulldog, our priority is our member's
self-esteem. Whether they are like Dawson and they climb Mount Everest, or
they become better in their chosen sport, or their team wins the virtual
Bulldog Tour de France, they are rewarded with a sense of accomplishment. The
bonus is improved endurance, strength and stamina."
