World Vision Honoured for Third Year in Financial Reporting Excellence

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Nov. 21, 2011 /CNW/ - World Vision Canada has been honoured with an award of excellence in financial reporting transparency at the annual Voluntary Sector Reporting Awards.  The VSRAs were created four years ago by the CA-Queen's Centre for Governance in partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario to recognize Ontario's best non-profit annual reports. The child-focused charity was further honoured with an Exemplar award in recognition of three consecutive years of receiving the award of excellence.

Financial reporting is a critical component of any business though none more than the charitable sector, which faces more scrutiny than others due to the humanitarian nature of the sector and the focus on ensuring funds raised get to the areas of need. The awards serve to raise the bar on reporting excellence and ensure the voluntary sector is rigorous in this aspect of accountability. "Alongside other leading organizations, we are proud to once again be recognized in this way," said Charlie Fluit, CFO / Vice President Corporate Services, World Vision Canada.  "Stewardship of the finances entrusted to us by Canadians is paramount at World Vision. We work hard to ensure every penny is used wisely.  This award is a testament to our dedication to do the best for our donors and the children and families we serve throughout the world," Fluit said.
