World Cancer Day - The Cancer Research Society is proud to celebrate its 65 years in support of cancer

MONTREAL, Feb. 4 /CNW Telbec/ - Did you know that cancer is the leading cause of death in Canada? And that one in four Canadians will die as a result of the disease? Cancer is a complex disease with over 200 different conditions, the repercussions of which are taking their toll around the globe. Cancer research is obviously a daunting task, particularly in light of the disease's overwhelming complexity. Over the past 5 years, the Cancer Research Society (CRS) has invested more than $30 million in cancer research, an impressive yet insignificant amount when facing the scope of overcoming this disease. Founded in 1945, the CRS is a national not-for-profit organization whose mission consists of offering seed money to the country's most promising research projects.

In conjunction with World Cancer Day, the CRS is proud to celebrate its 65-year history of fighting against cancer. CRS Board of Directors President Mario Chevrette, PhD, wishes to thank the organization's partners, donors and volunteers: "Without the ongoing support of the thousands of Canadians who stand by our side in our daily fight against cancer, the CRS would not have developed into the organization that it is today, nor would it have recognition from the scientific community for its results, integrity and independence," he emphasized.

Information on our research projects and their impact is available on our website under Media Center.
