WHAT'S OPEN AND CLOSED IN MONTRÉAL OVER THE CANADA DAY HOLIDAY

MONTREAL, June 30, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - Several Montréal municipal facilities will be open over the holiday, while others will be operating on reduced schedules or closed.

Most municipal offices will be closed on Thursday, July 1, 2011, including borough and Accès Montréal offices as well as local service points.

Pickup services: garbage, recyclables and bulky items

Collections will take place following regular schedules.

However, in the Saint-Laurent borough, the green waste collection will be held on July 4 in areas north of boulevard Henri-Bourassa and east of Autoroute 13 and the area between boulevard Marcel-Laurin and avenue O'Brien north of boulevard Côte-Vertu.

Sports and cultural facilities

All libraries will be closed on Friday, July 1. Arenas, swimming pools, sports and recreation centres as well as cultural centres schedules will vary according to schedules set by the boroughs. Citizens are asked to contact personnel at these facilities to check on days and times of operation, or call 311.

The Claude-Robillard sports complex will be closed. Outdoor tennis courts will be open. Information: 514 872-6900.

Espace pour la vie (Science facilities)

The Biodôme (4777, avenue Pierre-De Coubertin) will be open according to regular schedule from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  

The Insectarium will remain closed for major repairs. Insect care is maintained.

The Montréal Planetarium (1000, rue Saint-Jacques) will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. You may visit www.planetarium.montreal.qc.ca for day and evening performances. Information: 514 872-4530.

The Montréal Botanical Garden (4101, rue Sherbrooke Est and 4581, rue Sherbrooke Est ) will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information: 514 872-1400.

Other facilities

The Montréal municipal court (775, rue Gosford), as well as service points and the counter at 303, rue Notre-Dame Est, will be closed. Information: 514 872-2964.

Public markets will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information: 514 937-7754.

Marché Bonsecours (350, rue Saint-Paul Est) will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Information: 514 872-7730

Pointe-à-Callière, Montréal Museum of Archaeology and History, will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information: 514 872-9150.

Ecocentres

All the ecocentres will be open on July 1.

Parking

Parking meters will operate on the July 1 holiday and motorists must obey no-parking signs.
