New WagJag.com and Jaunt.ca survey reveals holiday gifting preferences
and habits of Canadians as we head into what industry experts expect to
be the "barganista" holidays.
TORONTO, Nov. 30, 2011 /CNW/ - If you're not exactly sure what to get
everyone on your holiday gift list, you're in good company. A new
survey commissioned by WagJag.com and Jaunt.ca, Canada's leading
group-buying web destinations, reveals that nearly half of survey respondents (48 per cent) are
strapped for great gift ideas as we head into the final holiday
purchasing push. The survey also shows that many of us are already
dreading the less than ideal holiday gifts we receive from those who
don't know what to get us, as close to half of survey respondents admit
that re-gifting is part of their holiday strategy!
2011 - Year of the "Barganista" Holidays
"With December nearly here, many Canadians are feeling the pressure of
finding a thoughtful gift with wow factor, and now more than ever we're
looking to stretch our dollar to make it happen," says Cheryl MacLean,
Head of Marketing, Torstar Digital.
"2011 is shaping up as the year of the 'barganista' holidays," she
continues. "Recent reports from Canadian financial institutions and
industry watch-groups indicate that Canadians plan to spend less on
holiday gifts this year compared with last year — but our new survey
shows that although budgets may be smaller we're still hoping to bring
joy to friends and family with thoughtful gifts."
