Unwanted holiday gifts? Skittles Holiday Pawn Shop is back and better than ever
Toronto pop-up shop back for second year, ready to make sweet deals you can't resist
TORONTO, Dec. 16, 2016 /CNW/ - Last year's favourite holiday destination, the Skittles Holiday Pawn Shop, is back for a second year and is sweetening the deal with curated, one-of-a-kind gifts from favourite Canadian celebrities.
From December 26 to 30, the Skittles Holiday Pawn Shop will be open for business at 277 Queen Street West in downtown Toronto, ready to give out delicious amounts of rainbow-inspired, holiday game-changing Skittles in exchange for gifts you don't want. The pawning will happen from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. daily.
Like any good Pawn Shop, there are always a few extra-special items on display and up for grabs. New this year, items from famous Canadian traders you may know - like Professional Basketball Player, Kyle Lowry; JUNO Award Winning Electro-Pop Artist, Lights; Four-time JUNO Award Winning Rock Band, Arkells; Professional Hockey All-Star, Johnny Gaudreau; and the 6 Dad, Norm Kelly - are under the spotlight. Fans can stop by to check out these highly coveted collectible items covered with Skittles candy curated by their favourite celebrities, and can also be found online.
If it sounds too good to be true, it's not. The Skittles Holiday Pawn Shop is ready to make a little holiday magic happen for the nearly half (47%) of Canadians who said - in a recent survey - they would pawn a bad gift for Skittles if they could—and 75% of Canadians have been disappointed by a bad holiday gift at one point in their lives.
"People absolutely loved visiting the first-ever Skittles Holiday Pawn Shop last December, so as the holidays rolled around this year, we knew it had to happen again – bigger and better than before," says Laura Amantea, marketing director at Wrigley Canada and lifelong Skittles fan. "With so many famous friends of Skittles, Canadians now have the chance to win coveted items from their favourite celebrities – that have been decked out in none other than Skittles."
Skittles pawnbrokers and Dale the Dealmaker will be back on-site at the Pawn Shop ready to make sweet deals based on the estimated Skittles value of your unwanted gifts.
To make matters even sweeter, starting December 26 through 30, five lucky Canadians will have the chance to win their favourite celebrity item. To enter the contest, fans can snap a picture of themselves in the Pawn Shop or a picture of themselves with Skittles, post to Instagram, indicating the celebrity item they want to win using, #SkittlesPawn.
