TVOKids' Don't Sit Still Tour powers up Amherstburg's Canada Day celebrations

  • Free live stage shows July 1 motivate kids to get moving, eat right and have fun

TORONTO, June 15, 2011 /CNW/ - This Canada Day, the TVOKids Don't Sit Still Tour joins the festivities at Amherstburg's Canada Day Celebrations and Ice Cream Festival at Fort Malden National Historic Site of Canada. On Friday July 1, families can enjoy two free performances by TVOKids hosts that will have kids and parents on their feet! (Location and times are listed below.)

Presented by EatRight Ontario, with sponsorship in part by Sun-Rype, the TVOKids Don't Sit Still Tour will visit over 20 Ontario communities this year and features TVOKids hosts Drew and Kara in a high-energy live stage show that motivates kids to get active, eat right and have fun.

Young audiences and their families can enjoy new songs, new dance moves, and non-stop opportunities to join in and follow along. As a memento of the show and its message of healthy living, kids receive free "Don't Sit Still" gift bags. The new DSS Cruiser will also be on site, with ambassadors giving out free snack samples from Sun-Rype and tips on healthy eating.

"The Don't Sit Still shows are a fun way to share important healthy living messages with young children and their parents. The shows take place in communities throughout the province.  Encouraging children to be active every day, and to eat more fruits and vegetables leads to the development of good habits for better health and well-being," says Margarett Best, Ontario's Minister of Health Promotion and Sport.

"What's really cool about the Don't Sit Still Tour is that we get to meet TVOKids fans, see how TVO affects the community and see all the kids and parents dancing, singing and getting active," says TVOKids host Kara.
