TORONTO, Sept. 7, 2011 /CNW/ - Nexalogy Environics, a leading Canadian provider of social media research technology, is
partnering with the Toronto Board of Trade to track Twitter comments and provide commentary and analysis during
the Ontario election.
The VoteOntario2011 Project will use Nexalogy's proprietary software to create dynamic maps of the
Twitter conversation associated with the following hashtags: #onpoli,
#ondp, #pcpo, #olp. The first is an interactive lexical map of the top
100 words emerging from the tweets and their associated analytics. The
second is a dynamic heat map that looks at the concepts that are
trending and is refreshed once every three minutes. The heat map also
identifies the top individuals emerging from this conversation.
Nexalogy analysts will be blogging regularly to provide an overview and
analysis of the evolving debate, paying particular attention to the
topics of jobs and infrastructure, as these are priority issues for
Board of Trade members.
These maps and blog posts will be featured on VoteOntario2011.com, the Board's provincial election website.
Use of monitoring, measurement and listening tools has become a
necessity to get a complete picture of the debate with tweet rates
easily climbing over thousands per hour.
"Since the 2008 U.S. presidential election, Twitter has transformed the
way campaigns are run and how candidates connect with their
electorate," said Claude Théoret, President of Nexalogy Environics.
"People trying to follow these discussions can easily be overwhelmed by
the sheer amount of information generated online. Our technology allows
people to view and explore the entire conversation and see the
connections that are relevant to them."
"Twitter is a 24/7 real-time indicator of public discussion and we will
know the pulse of the people before anyone else" added Théoret.
"The political landscape is being revolutionized by digital
conversations and the influencers emerging from them," said Carol
Wilding, President and CEO, Toronto Board of Trade. "As a result, we
asked Nexalogy to help us capture and analyze the dynamics of online
discussions specific to the Ontario provincial election to the ultimate
benefit of concerned citizens in the Toronto region and the rest of the
