LONGUEUIL, QC, May 17 /CNW Telbec/ - For the 6th year running, the
Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers is continuing with two
traditions which it considers very important. The first of these is its
annual Christmas can, which features the winning entry of an art
contest aimed at children aged between 7 and 12. The can is produced by
Sucreries Beaurivage and is sold at all Quebec IGA and IGA extra
stores. The second tradition is a donation to the Sainte-Justine UHC
Foundation of $1 for every can sold. As a result, this year the
Federation is donating $23,712 to the Foundation, which amounts to
$8,000 more than last year.
"We care a lot about children's health which is why our annual donation
to the Sainte-Justine UHC Foundation is very important to us. The
donation helps fund research and improvements in child health care. Our
producers wish to thank all those that have contributed to this
donation by buying our maple syrup can," emphasized Mr. Serge Beaulieu,
President of the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers.
"We are very touched that the maple syrup producers continue to donate
year after year for 6 years now. We have been able to put over $120,000
toward some of the Sainte-Justine UHC's most urgent needs thanks to
their dedication and generosity to the children of Sainte Justine,"
declared Isabelle Levesque, Senior Adviser for Publicity and
Sponsorships at the Sainte-Justine UHC Foundation.

The can featured the artwork of Rébecca Roy of Tring-Jonction in
Chaudière-Appalaches, winner of the Federation's 2009 Christmas
contest, whose theme was "Draw Christmas with Siropcool at the maple
grove". Her prize was a week at a 2010 summer camp with a friend.
The winner of the 2010 contest will be announced shortly.
