The 2015 IKEA Catalogue is Here!

Bringing inspiration to the rooms where every day begins and ends.

BURLINGTON, ON, Aug. 11, 2014 /CNW/ - Believe it or not, the first IKEA Catalogue was published in 1945. Seventy years later, the #MostHelpfulBook for home furnishings is starting to arrive in 6.5 million homes across Canada this week. This year's edition celebrates the rooms where every day begins and ends - the bedroom and the bathroom. The book is not only loaded with inspiration on smart solutions for living a better and more sustainable everyday life at home; it takes readers on an interactive journey with extended content. In addition, a major milestone has been reached - the IKEA Catalogue is now the largest print production ever to be printed on 100% FSC certified paper with 217 million copies being printed worldwide.

"Of course a good night's sleep is still the most basic need, but our bathrooms and bedrooms are also rooms where we wind down from the day, contemplate, relax and care for ourselves," says Madeleine Löwenborg-Frick, Public Relations Manager, IKEA Canada. "Consumer research shows that our desires actually don't differ that much from country to country or person to person. In short, most of us dream of an oasis-like bathroom and a bedroom with that ultimate comfort."

People want their homes to reflect who they are. The IKEA Catalogue aims to inspire  IKEA customers to furnish and decorate the way they wish to live, rather than following trends and conventions. It is full of so many actionable ideas that it can literally help in every aspect of life. So much so that we can simply address it as "the most helpful book in the world".

Using the IKEA Catalogue app, readers can scan pages marked with the orange plus symbol, or access the content in the digital version of the catalogue to unlock additional material and increase the design experience!

This year's extended content includes:

24 Films - The films range from quick, do-it-yourself tips to deeper knowledge about particular home furnishing solutions, as well as the thinking behind the design of IKEA products.

Four Image Galleries - The Image Gallery is a straightforward tool that reveals a wide range of home furnishing solutions and alternatives.

Two 360° Views - These put the mobile user in the middle of the room, allowing them to access all angles and points-of-view.

Three Slideshows - Here, user interaction determines the pace of the experience. The Slideshow displays a wide range of home furnishing ideas within the same space or solutions based on the same furniture.

More than 300 Place in your Room Products - Will it fit in this space? Will it go with my other furniture? This year, users can try out more than 300 pieces of furniture - the most ever. This allows consumers to visualise the style and size of selected IKEA products within their own homes.
