ST. JOHN'S, Feb. 17 /CNW/ - Offshore oil workers at the Terra Nova oil platform southeast of
Newfoundland have voted to reject a tentative contract negotiated
earlier this year between the employer and the Communications, Energy
and Paperworkers Union of Canada.
The vote took place at ratification meetings held today and Jan. 27 for
the 180 employees working for several different employers. The vote
took place offshore on the Terra Nova FPSO, and at onshore meetings.
"We are continuing to negotiate with the company to find a way forward,"
said CEP National Representative Gary Healey.
