Ontario Clean Energy Benefit helps reduce cost of renewable energy
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Feb. 4 /CNW/ - As energy costs continue to rise,
Summitt Energy residential and small business customers should find
some relief through the Ministry of Energy's Ontario Clean Energy Benefit (OCEB) five-year 10% discount on electricity bills.
The OCEB is designed to offset some of the costs of moving Ontario
towards cleaner sources of power. This difficult task requires shutting
down older forms of energy generation like coal plants and shifting
Ontario's energy industry to renewable sources. Generation sources such
as wind, solar, and bio-energy are initiatives that will increase
energy costs in Ontario.
The OECB's discount applies to electricity charges incurred as of
January 1, 2011 onward. As a result, eligible Summitt Energy customers
will automatically receive a 10% discount on their total monthly
electricity bill. According to the Ministry of Energy, customers'
savings should be at least $150 a year for the next five years.
For more information on the OCEB rebate and eligibility, please visit
the Ministry of Energy's website or call the Ministry of Energy
toll-free at 1-888-668-4636.
