GUADALAJARA, Mexico, Nov. 13, 2011 /CNW/ - I would like to congratulate
Robbi Weldon and Daniel Chalifour on winning Canada's first medals at
the 2011 Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, today.
Robbi Weldon from Thunder Bay Ontario with pilot Lyne Bessette of
Knowlton Quebec won gold in the 21.6 km time trials in cycling for
athletes with visual impairment and Daniel Chalifour of Lac-des-écorces
Quebec with pilot Ed Veal of Queensville Ontario took the bronze.
Cycling is one of 13 sport disciplines being contested at these Games.
Along with all Canadians, I am extremely proud of the outstanding
performance by Robbi and Daniel, their pilots and all of Canada's
athletes at the Games. I am thrilled to cheer on Team Canada as they
