Scotiabank Contributes $25,000 to Canadian Red Cross Campaign Supporting Flood Victims in Manitoba

WINNIPEG AND TORONTO, May 19 /CNW/ - Scotiabank today contributed $25,000 to the Canadian Red Cross campaign supporting victims of the flooding in Manitoba. The Bank also invited Canadians to support the Red Cross initiative through donations at Scotiabank branches across Canada.

"Scotiabank has had a branch in Winnipeg since 1882 and we know our communities in Manitoba extremely well," said George Marlatte, Senior Vice-President, Prairie Region, Scotiabank. "Our thoughts are with our employees, customers and neighbours and we are very proud to demonstrate our support in this time of need."

There have been no branch closures as a result of the flooding. All Scotiabank branches in the region are open for business and fully operating.

"This is a resilient community and it is in times like these when we come together and help those who are affected by hardship," said Terry Bjornson, District Vice-President, Winnipeg, Scotiabank. "We will work with any customer who has been affected to find solutions to any problems that may arise because of the flooding."
