Royal Canadian Mint leads the pack once again in Krause Publications' 2012 Coin of the Year award with seven nominations

OTTAWA, Nov. 3, 2011 /CNW/ - The Royal Canadian Mint continues to stand out in the running for Krause Publications' annual Coin of the Year awards, after it received seven nominations for awards to be presented next February at the 2012 World Money Fair in Berlin.  This is the most nominations earned for the last three consecutive years by any national mint or central bank recognized by Krause Publications for their highest numismatic achievements for coins issued in 2010.

The Mint's outstanding collector coins lead a large field of international competitors by receiving nominations in seven different Coin of the Year categories, specifically: Best Gold Coin; Most Historically Significant Coin; Best Contemporary Event Coin; Most Popular Coin; and Most Innovative Coin; Most Artistic Coin; and Most Inspirational Coin.

"Quality, innovation and craftsmanship are important values at the Royal Canadian Mint and they are reflected in each of our coins nominated for a 2012 Coin of the Year award," said Ian E. Bennett, President and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint. "It takes the best coins to showcase Canada's history, culture and values and we are proud that the work of the talented employees of the Royal Canadian Mint continues to receive international acclaim."
