TORONTO, May 19 /CNW/ - Today, rookie PC leader Tim Hudak revealed yet
another reckless policy.
After spending most of the last two weeks telling Ontarians that he
would gut the clean energy industry in Ontario and cause thousands of
layoffs across the province, Hudak has now offered a plan that has no
numbers backing it up, and will cost Ontario families more in the long
When asked today, Hudak wouldn't say how he would pay for this reckless
That's because there are only two ways to pay for it, and Hudak doesn't
want to talk about either one:
Do what the PCs always do, and cut funding to schools and hospitals to
pay for their rookie mistakes, or
Run up a multi-billion dollar hydro debt, and then ask Ontarians to pay
The most disturbing part of today's announcement is that we've seen it
before. In 2002, PC Premier Ernie Eves sat down at an Ontario family's
kitchen table and promised to save hydro consumers money. Then he
proceeded to add over $1 billion in hydro debt and shatter investor
confidence in Ontario, costing lost investment dollars and lost jobs.
Today's announcement was yet another reckless policy that Ontario
families will end up paying for - either through cuts to healthcare and
education, or on their bills down the road.
Ontario is just getting out of the hole that the PCs dug the last time
they were in office. We can't let them dig another hole with their
reckless and costly promises.
