MONTREAL, June 16, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - The Foundation of Greater Montreal (FGM) is pleased to announce the nomination of Richard W. Pound as Chairman of
the Board of Directors. At the Annual General Assembly held on June 15,
the following members were also appointed to the Board of Directors:
Tim Brodhead, Norman E. Hébert Jr., Peter McAuslan, and Michael Novak.
The FGM is overseen by a 20-member Board of Directors.
In 2010, Richard Pound was appointed to the Board of Directors as Vice-Chair. He succeeds
Marcel Côté whose mandate ended yesterday. Mr. Côté has been active
within the FGM for more than ten years, and will remain active on the
Board as Past Chairman.
Richard Pound is a partner in the Montreal offices of Stikeman Elliott, and is a
member of the firm's tax group. Mr. Pound's main areas of practice
include tax litigation and negotiations with tax authorities on behalf
of clients, in addition to general tax advisory work and commercial
arbitration. Mr. Pound has been named one of Time Magazine's 100 most
influential people in the world for his relentless efforts to rid sport
of performance-enhancing drugs. He is the recipient of numerous awards,
including the Ernest T. Stewart Award and the Laureus "Spirit of Sport"
Prize. He is a member of the International Olympic Committee and was a
member of the Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic
Winter Games in Vancouver.
A Brand New Board of Directors
Tim Brodhead is President and Chief Executive Officer of The J.W. McConnell Family
Foundation. Prior to joining the Foundation, he was Executive Director
of the Canadian Council for International Cooperation (CCIC), a
national body representing over 120 non-governmental organizations
working in international development. In 2001, Mr. Brodhead was
appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada.
Norman E. Hébert Jr., is the President and CEO of Groupe Park Avenue Inc. For the last 25 years, Mr.
Hébert has overseen the development, as well as the strategic
orientation of the group and its subsidiaries. Along with leading the
future for Groupe Park Avenue, Mr. Hébert is very involved in many
levels of his industry, occupying several executive positions, as well
as sitting on a number of industry boards.
Peter McAuslan is the founder and president of The McAuslan Brewing Company. Mr.
McAuslan has served as President and Vice-President of the Quebec
Microbrewery Association, and as Director of the Brewer's Association
of Canada. He is a past president of the Concordia Alumni Association,
and a previous member of the Concordia University Board of Directors.
In 2003, he was awarded the Queen's Jubilee medal, and in 2008, was
named 'Personality of the Year' in the Business and Arts category by
the Conseil des Arts de Montréal and Le Devoir.
Michael Novak is Executive Vice-President and a member of the Office of the President
of SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. Mr. Novak is responsible for SNC-Lavalin
International, Global Procurement, Global Information Technologies,
SNC-Lavalin's WE CARE policy, including Health, Safety and Environment
and Corporate Risk Management. He is a member of the Bar of the
Province of Quebec, holds a B.Sc. (biochemistry), LL.B. and B.C.L. from
McGill University, and is a graduate of Harvard University's Advanced
