RGD’s DesignThinkers Conference inspires Toronto for 12th consecutive year

TORONTO, Nov. 8, 2011 /CNW/ - The Association of Registered Graphic Designers of Ontario (RGD) (www.rgdontario.com) hosted DesignThinkers 2011 (www.designthinkers.com) on Nov. 2 and 3. Attended by 1,300, the conference offered eye-opening insights into the future of communications. DesignThinkers is Canada's largest annual design conference and one of the most respected in the world.

Many are raving about the event. "Amazing DesignThinkers Conference. Loved meeting so many new visionaries/mature rebels," said presenter Stanley Hainsworth. "After attending DesignThinkers 2011, I was inspired, encouraged, and filled with the passion for art, design and communication that led me to choose this career," raved an attendee.

DesignThinkers unites Canada's creative community and offers glimpses into the innovative thinking shaping the industry and world at large. Insights were offered from advertising to books; branding to film titling; digital marketing to data visualization; sustainability to colour; editorial to packaging.

Chip Kidd described his process for the cover of Murakami's new IQ84. Advertising legend George Lois ranted about why he hates being called the 'original madman'. Eric Ryan, founder of cleaning products company method, explained his company's growth. Wolff Olins Creative Director Todd Simmons played a clip of John Stewart berating the logo for the London 2012 Olympics before discussing its design. Robert Wong, Executive Creative Director of Google Labs, brought the audience to tears with a Chrome commercial.

RGD is Ontario's professional body for graphic design and an industry hub, setting standards of professional practice and accrediting graphic designers who qualify with the designation Registered Graphic Designer (R.G.D.).
