Gala to be Hosted by Abdominal, Steven Page, and Michelle Wright

TORONTO, Nov. 21, 2011 /CNW/ - SOCAN today announced that the 22nd edition of its annual awards gala will take place on November 21 at Roy Thomson Hall. Several of Canada's talented music creators and publishers will be in attendance, including the hosts for the evening: Abdominal, Steven Page, and Michelle Wright. Media are invited to attend with accreditation.

The gala will bring together the Canadian music community to recognize and celebrate the music creators and publishers of the most successful music from 2010 in a variety of categories: pop/rock, country, jazz, urban, folk/roots, and classical music, plus music performed in film and on television. Four special awards will also be presented: the SOCAN Lifetime Achievement Award, given to SOCAN members who have had outstanding success throughout their musical career; the International Achievement Award, given to  SOCAN members who have brought international recognition to Canada in 2010 through their music; the National Achievement Award, given to SOCAN members for outstanding success predominantly in the Canadian music industry over the span of their career; and the Special Achievement Award, given to people who have greatly contributed to Canada's musical heritage.
