Sexual Assaults - Incidents May Be Related

NAPANEE, ON, April 19 /CNW/ - On April 16, 2011 at approximately 10:30 p.m. an unidentified male sexually assaulted a young girl in an elevator at the Hampton Inn, Napanee.

On December 11, 2009, the Quinte West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Crime Unit investigated a sexual assault on another young girl that occurred in a corridor at the Holiday Inn, Quinte West.

In both incidents, the children were not alone, but with other children. Parents and caregivers are reminded that children need adult supervision and to know where their children are at all times.

Due to information obtained as a result of these investigations, the OPP believe that these two incidents may be related. The Napanee and Quinte West Crime Units, under the direction of OPP Detective Inspector Chris Nicholas, Criminal Investigation Branch are continuing their investigation.

The suspect was described as being a clean shaven, white male, in his late 20's - early 30's, approximately 6 feet tall. He is thin, with a noticeable belly, short dark hair and brown eyes.  He was wearing a dark coat or hoodie type sweater and blue jeans.

The OPP are reminding everyone to always practice personal safety. For more safety tips, go to, "Resources", "Youth Issues", "Tip Sheets".

Anyone with information about these crimes is encouraged to call the Napanee OPP at 613-354-3369, Quinte West OPP at 613-392-3561 or CrimeStoppers.
