WHITBY, ON, April 15 /CNW/ - Glenna Raymond, President and CEO, Ontario
Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) is pleased to
announce the appointment of Barbara Mildon, RN, PhD, CHE, CCHN(C) to
the position of Vice-President, Professional Practice and Research, and
Chief Nurse Executive, effective April 18, 2011.
Dr. Mildon's nursing experience spans the domains of clinical care,
clinical education, research, regulation and administration. A
Certified Health Executive (Canadian College of Health Leaders), she
has held progressive clinical practice and management positions in
Ontario and British Columbia.

Ontario Shores is on an exciting journey as an academic mental health
sciences centre. We have significant work underway in interprofessional
practice, standards of care, and quality and safety. With Dr. Mildon's
extensive background in nursing, professional practice and research,
she will be a key contributor to expanding our interprofessional
practice and academic mandate," says Raymond.
Dr. Mildon has held a variety of leadership and research roles including
Chief Nurse Executive and Vice-President, Professional Practice and
Integration at Fraser Health Authority in Surrey, British Columbia,
Research Associate at the University of Toronto, Vice-President of
Nursing Leadership at Saint Elizabeth Health Care, and Director of
Nursing Practice at Hotel Dieu Hospital. Several of these roles
encompassed mental health programs including inpatient and
community-based services such as Assertive Community Treatment and
Crisis Response Teams, giving her a broad and varied perspective on
mental health care.

She has also been actively involved in provincial and national
professional associations and is currently the President-elect for the
Canadian Nurses Association and was past president of the Registered
Nurses Association of Ontario's (RNAO) Community Health Nurses'
Dr. Mildon recently completed her PhD in the Science of Nursing
Administration from the University of Toronto's Lawrence S. Bloomberg
Faculty of Nursing.
