Ontario Liberal Plan For A New Economy With Good Jobs Is Working

Forward, Together, McGuinty Tells Cheering Crowd In Vaughan

VAUGHAN, ON, Sept. 28, 2011 /CNW/ - The Ontario Liberal Plan is working and Ontarians are moving forward, together, Premier Dalton McGuinty told a cheering crowd of more than a thousand people here today.

"What we are building, together, is nothing short of amazing. These are perilous times in the global economy, yet we continue to make progress," McGuinty said.

"Our plan is working. Ontario has created almost 300,000 full-time jobs since the global recession — more full-time jobs this year than the rest of Canada combined," said McGuinty.

In the next chapter of the Ontario Liberal Plan, we're building a new, clean-energy economy and creating tens of thousands of additional jobs in infrastructure, transportation, hospitals, schools and the private sector.

The Hudak PCs have $14 billion in unfunded giveaways and tax cuts that would mean deep cuts to hospitals and schools. The Horwath NDP would take Ontario off track by introducing a crushing $9 billion in job-killing taxes.

The Premier made his comments at an enthusiastic rally in Vaughan this morning, following his success in the televised leaders' debate yesterday evening.

"We're creating the advantage needed to compete in the new economy. In a world where 70 per cent of all new jobs will require a postsecondary education, we are committed to investing in our people — in their skills, in their education — to build the world's best-educated workforce," said McGuinty.

Education has always been the centrepiece of the Ontario Liberal Plan to build a high-skills economy with good jobs and the best health care. The Ontario Liberal Plan will protect the gains our province has made since 2003, keep postsecondary school affordable, improve health care and make it easier for seniors' to stay in their own homes and invest in jobs of the future.

"Now is not the time for experimentation or political expedience. We need strong, steady leadership. Only the Ontario Liberals have a plan to move us forward, together," McGuinty said.
