Samsung's 4TH New Manufacturing Plant Thanks To Liberal Clean-Energy Plan
LONDON, ON, Sept. 8, 2011 /CNW/ - The Ontario Liberal Plan has delivered
20,000 new clean-energy jobs for Ontario families and is on track to
create 50,000 by the end of 2012, Premier Dalton McGuinty announced
"Our plan is building the most knowledgeable, highly skilled workforce
around — and that's helping to create a clean-energy economy," said
McGuinty. "I want to thank Samsung for their vote of confidence in our
plan — in Ontarians' skills and education, which is our greatest
advantage when it comes to competing in the global economy and building
that clean-energy economy here at home."
Samsung C&T is opening three manufacturing plants in Toronto,
Tillsonburg and Windsor, and those three will produce solar inverters,
wind turbines and blades.
Today Premier McGuinty announced that a fourth new manufacturing plant
is opening in London, which will deliver 200 good new jobs to local
families, and produce solar modules.
"Samsung is proud to be a part of Ontario's growing clean economy," said
Mr. Cheol-Woo Lee, Senior Executive Vice President, Samsung C&T
Corporation. "We look forward to utilizing the cutting-edge skills of
workers here in London to bringing renewable energy to residents in
Ontario and a prosperous green future for us all."
McGuinty made the announcement after meeting with students at the
University of Western Ontario's Chemistry Department. These students
are preparing to find careers in the clean-energy industry — a sector
that has already attracted more than $20 billion in new private-sector
"Ontario is on track for a stronger future," said McGuinty. "The
opposition would take us off track by killing those clean-energy jobs.
The Hudak PCs $14 billion hole would also mean deep cuts to education,
depriving us of the highly skilled workers who attract companies like
Samsung. The Horwath NDP would introduce a crushing $9 billion in
job-killing taxes. Both would take Ontario off track at the worst
time. Our bold plan would position Ontario to become North America's
biggest manufacturer of clean technology. This is the way forward,
