OTTAWA, Feb. 3 /CNW/ - Are you the journalist who will take the nation's
top prize for investigative journalism? Or are you the journalist who
broke the story and nabbed the best scoop of the year?
If you think you should be either of those, the deadline for the
Canadian Association of Journalists 2010 Awards is in a week. The CAJ
is looking to reward Canada's best investigative journalism published
or broadcast during the 2010 calendar year, along with rewarding the
country's best photojournalism, 'scoop,' daily journalism and print
Winners in each category take home the respect and admiration of their
media colleagues across the country, along with $500. Finalists in each
category also take home the respect and admiration of their media
colleagues, which is priceless.
You can't win if you don't apply though, and the deadline is a week
away. All entries must be postmarked by Feb. 10, 2011.
The categories for 2010 are:
- Community Newspaper
- Open newspaper / wire service
- Television (over five minutes)
- Television (under five minutes)
- Regional television
- Open radio news / current affairs
- CAJ / Marketwire Computer-assisted reporting
- CAJ / Centre for Faith and Media award for faith and spirituality
- Daily excellence
- Print feature
We also, in conjunction with CNW Group, hand out a student award of
excellence -- the deadline for that award is Feb. 28, 2011.
All award winners will be announced at the CAJ's 2011 convention at the
Sheraton Hotel in Ottawa, May 13-15, 2011. For complete information and
