Official Opening of Sunnymel plant, Clair, New Brunswick

CLAIR, NB., May 18, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - At a ceremony attended by more than 700 guests on Friday, May 17, Premier David Alward presided over the official opening of the Sunnymel chicken slaughterhouse and cutting plant in Clair, New Brunswick. The completion of this ultramodern plant, with a slaughtering and butchering capacity of 450,000 chickens per week, required an investment of $55 million. The plant employs some 200 persons. It will serve the Maritimes market, as well as other distribution networks in Canada. Sunnymel is owned by a partnership between New Brunswick producer, Westco, and Canadian agrifood processing and distribution giant, Olymel.
